I came to thinking... the more I look around me, the more I see dishonesty crowding every rock, knook, and crannie in this country. No longer is an honest buck what one could call honest. Cheating is nothing new, nor is scamming the honest tax-paying American... however it seems to be out of control.
Every other hour I get calls on the phone from companies beating around the bush to get me to give them money for something that is, in all essential descriptions: "useless". Salesman in retails stores lie their faces to stone just to meet accessory quotas. Internet auctions are overrun with Chinese bootleggers, other forms of scam-artists, and so on. Everything out of China just seems to be a mass-production market of bootlegging or fraudulent product which is sold in huge quantities since it is made for free. For example, look up most media on Ebay, CDs, movies, PC games, video games, you'll find an endless supply of very secretive names selling these products for disgustingly low prices, often $0.99 you can buy pretty much anything out there. But 99% chances are that it is not a legitimate copy of said product.
It's so bad these days that even the job market is seeing rampant overrun of scam jobs and MLMs, which employ people to pay them for their own hard work. Essentially, these jobs are like working a hard 12 day shift+overtime, only to pay all the money you earn to the company with no profit for yourself. Of course, that's because you didn't read the fine print about something and they are not obligated to pay you for your time. Jobs which tout how you can make thousands of dollars at home, get rich quick schemes, and the like which are quite obviously hinting on just how you can "make thousands working at home part time!"... telling all these success stories which make it sound so great, until you get to the end of the story and the punchline: And now you can become this successful too! For a low price of $100 we'll send you this starter kit with all the essentials you need to make $500,000 a year working 2 hours a week!
It's disgusting really... when you have to do a background check on every company you apply to, to validate their legitimacy before going to the so-called "interviews".
Some might say the world has always been run by these underhanded schemers in the background, but really is it just me, or does it seem like this black market of scamming is getting inundated?
And then tell me, where has the honest buck really gone off to?
