How the hell had it come to this?

Sure, there was a scerrik of logic in there somewhere, and with diplomatic immunity in addition to his resourcefulness, Roland himself wasn't in any real danger. But this was a positively ludicrous political power-play by the Queen of his homeland, one she only had limited support for - when he and the Association had dug their heels in over the idea, some of her own retainers had crossed the floor to vote against it with him, but somehow, it had still gone through, and he'd been put on this mission.

Really, even if executed perfectly, there wasn't a single way this could end well. He found himself with very little faith Queen Sophia had thought this all the way through. He shook his head, resuming his pacing of the opulent lounge.

[ooc: So Roland's a diplomat sent to offer his "services" to give Carnava a political foothold. Amelia can recognize him if you want, but he'll only vaguely recognize her at first.]

On her way down the halls towards the meeting place, another councillor had filled Amelia in on the details of the diplomat waiting to speak to her. Usually they made appointments ahead of time or arranged to stay in the castle to properly discuss matters, not simply turn up without warning. Still, considering the circumstances of the country, it wasn't too surprising. Her own memories of the difficulties in Carnava in the past made her all too aware of the trying times they had gone through. Of course, she could never turn her back on others, as long as it did no harm to her own people ( ... )

Amelia herself had a role in how well-off Roland was today. His time with her, however brief, had been enough for him to open up to the people around him again and accept their help. Some wounds never completely healed, but in the intervening years he'd collected himself enough to become the Master he was expected to be, a stable and rational man who fondly remember a first love with a tragically short life ( ... )

Hearing anyone be so formal with her still sounded alien to Amelia, but that came with her position now. It was probably just more peculiar with people with whom she had previously had no need to be so strict with in regards to titles for the sake of good manners. Still, Roland apparently didn't recognise her, so there was no real surprise there. It had been a long time after all. He was doing well, that was what was important ( ... )

Flynn had been wandering around the kingdom and heard great things about the rulers of Seyruun. It was nice to hear of a place like this, though not entirely sure if he should take it upon himself to come in and meet the royalty. Things in his past had made him wary of others especially nobility, but after hearing again and again that the young Queen of Seyruun was a just and noble person, the tall knight had finally come to meet her.

It had been easy enough to ask for an audience, and the knight found himself led to a nice lounge. Moving towards the window, his gloved hand touched the pane as he looked out at the scenery as he waited. His finger tips caressed the pane as he waited for her.

What am I doing here?

There seemed to be a lot that Flynn wasn't sure about these days.

It was true that the royal family had an admirable reputation, despite the personal trauma's due to family disputes over the throne in the past. That had died out now for the most part, since there were no other relatives to bicker over Amelia being in charge. Even if that had happened, considering her skills in magic and fighting, it was unlikely anyone would succeed to forcing her to give up her duty to protect her homeland.

Flynn wouldn't have to wait too long before the doors swung open, revealing a young woman who was quite at ease, smiling openly as she entered the room and approached the guest.

"So, may I know who has asked to see me?" she enquired as she looked up at the knight.

Looking down at Amelia, Flynn blinked. She looked around his age, maybe a little younger but she seemed friendly enough. Turning around, the blond nodded his head and smiled to her, "Excuse me for such a abrupt audience, I heard so many great things about the rulers of this land, I decided to see for myself what type of person was on the throne. I'm Flynn Scifo ( ... )

Despite growing, she was still rather petite, despite her rather ample form. Of course anyone could testify she was far from weak, and even with the need for her to be more rigid in her formality, she still tried to keep an air of accessiblity. She never thought of herself as above others, and certainly didn't want others to believe it either ( ... )

Ruka had to admit, she had missed this place. A lot, but not as much as she missed a certain Princess who was apparently now acting Queen.

It had been quite a few years since Ruka had met the other girl while both were on their adventures, and much like Amelia Ruka had grown considerably as time passed. Her hair was longer, and her body had matured over time. She had always carried a torch for Amelia and had been grateful that the other girl was willing to wait for her.

Now hopefully, the time had come for things to escalate between them.

Of course, the matter of Amelia's interests in partners had never come up, even with the whole business of having an heir. As long as a baby came along, nothing else really mattered to the advisors, regardless of any relationship the Queen had with the one who helped make it. Needless to say, she doubted any remark on the fact she was still hoping a past companion might return to her would be listened to.

Yes, she had waited, but was still genuinely surprised at the sight that befell her when she entered the lounge. Even having clearly matured, there was no mistaking the person there.

"Ruka." she whispered, barely able to stop herself from acting undignifed while palace staff could still see her. She would have to wait until the door closed and the council member was out of earshot before opening up.

"My Queen~" Ruka bowed politely and waited until the door had closed, also allowing a few more seconds to pass before making her way toward Amelia and pulling her into a fierce embrace.

"It's been so long, Amelia...! I've missed you~"

Admittedly, she was still in shock as she was hugged by the other girl, taking a moment to register things before returning the embrace, holding the other girl close.

"I've missed you too Ruka." she smiled, petting her companion's hair gently.
