The Black Forest | Sensory Deprivation | {BYOA}

It should not have surprised her at all, really. This sort of occurrence had been far too common in her family for as long as she could remember, and even held some personal grief over the matter. And yet, she still found it hard to come to terms with; was the Seyruun throne that big of a draw?

The answer seemed to be yes, considering her situation. Amelia sighed, tossing another small piece of wood into the dying flames that crackled in the fireplace, rubbing her arms to keep warm. The canopy of the trees in the forest were thick enough to block out the rays of the moon, leaving nothing but darkness beyond them. Apart from the smoke coming from the cottage chimney, and the light glow of the fire that could be seen through the window, there weren't many signs of life within the woods. Any that could be seen were not ones most would wish for, namely for fear of the creatures they belonged to. Still, that would hopefully mean she wasn't disturbed.

How long had she been hiding there? A few weeks perhaps? It was hard to tell, since there was no light able to get through the thick leaves and branches high above. Combining that with her own worsening state, even Amelia's hopes were beginning to fade.

She had already buried relatives, mourned them, forgiven them when they tried to kill her father for his place in line to the crown of Seyruun. Even so, this working attempt on her own life had shaken her to her very core. It was likely a mix up in trying to get to the crown prince, not that it mattered now. Either way, Amelia had discovered after a few days of feeling ill and her body becoming numb that she had ingested a deadly poison, planted by someone in the palace who had high level access, namely a council member or someone in the royal family. After confiding in her father, it was agreed that she leave secretly for a safehouse outside the capital while the most trusted healers research a cure, so as not to let the would be assassin of the mistake.  Amelia often traveled with her friends anyway for long periods, so it was easy to make an excuse for her absence, though there would rumors that the princess of Seyruun was off wandering the world again.

Despite laying low, trying to fight back the fear ebbing away at her, she had succumbed to worry and done a bit of research on her own as well, picking up books as she made her way through towns before reaching the designated safehouse in the forest. Even with her hands struggling to turn the pages as she lost all sense of touch, she kept working, growing steadily weaker as time passed. As luck would have it, she did somehow manage to find the correct antidote. It had taken her more time to gather the ingredients and prepare the brew, knowing that if she tried to return home first she likely wouldn't survive the trip. Unfortunately, just as she succeeded in the task, the poison claimed her eyesight as well. This wouldn't have been an issue, bar for the fact that there was more to the cure than drinking the elixir, which she now couldn't read. Her only hope it seemed now was to wait for her father to send someone, which was becoming less likely by the day.

She had almost become lost in the hopelessness, when a sharp noise outside broke through the quiet rustle of the wind. Staggering to her feet, she walked the memorized path to the door, pressing herself against the wall behind it as what sounded like footsteps grew in volume. As she attempted to steady her breathing, the princess willed herself to listen for more; a knock, a voice, or the creak of the door being opened. She would act depending on which one of those came first.

[ooc: Yes, because  I can't resist using these little plots that pop into my head. Basically, Amelia's loss of her senses is due to a slow acting poison that will eventually kill her. The cure is the potion mentioned, but it will only work if taken before her body experiences certain chemical reactions within her that will trigger the right balance to cancel out the poison, naturally the ones that come from having sex. Your character can be someone sent by Seyruun to help with the cure, a concerned friend who heard the rumors and ventured out to find her on their own, or just a stranger who has stumbled across the cottage and is looking for a place to spend the night. Choose any scenario you like and we shall see what happens. Men and women welcome for CR or smut; castmates, previous encounters and new people alike are loved. Apart from the usual bathroom/gore/death kink no-no's, I'm fine with anything, just ask if you're unsure about something.~]
