[Huh. He hadn't thought about that. ] I thought we were somewhere near Japan. [ Home. ]

That's the general consensus, but whether or not it's the Japan from your time or mine remains to be seen.

[ Good point there. Which reminds him... ] I haven't been looking at the stars since I came here. Maybe we can get an idea of the time period by reading them? [ That is, if the gaps in time were really far apart. ]

How will astrology help? Stars only make navigation at sea easier; in the context of this situation, they're useless to us.

Incorrect.

I can make explosives. For ammunition, I'd need casings. There's more than enough ammo in the dojo though.

The kind I would like might as well be considered explosive. If I gave you the materials and schematics, do you think you could manage?

[Honestly, adults.]

That depends- just what is it you want me to make and does it go against the Geneva convention?

More or less.

Acidic rounds - bullets that, instead of exploding, expel an chemical component which rapidly eats away at the site of the impact. The idea came to me after studying the worms. I figure they would be a more efficient method of dispatching monsters, and also an effective way to conserve supplies.

you know, there could just as easily not be any world at all beyond the island.

Then where do the boats come from?

from whoever sent the supplies

it's a classic psych-out technique. stick something creepy around and people will get creeped out about it and start forming theories about where it came from and what could be haunting it

or they could be actual wreckage, but there's no way to tell for sure

Your first theory only has credence if we assume that some sort of criminal mastermind is overseeing this from behind the scenes. If one was, what would the motive behind this be? A social experiment?

You've forgotten to take into account those of us who are not even from this planet.

Do you claim to be from one such planet? I suppose it could be very well possible that we might be on a foreign one altogether; perhaps an uncharted area on the edge of yours or another person's.

I wouldn't mention it if I weren't.

Most likely we're on yours. I'm just reminding you to take into account that there's more to this than simple time manipulation.

Just because I focused on one possible facet does not mean I don't take into account other ones. Do not presume as much. At this point, there are three possible theories to go by:

1. We are on Earth in an unknown year.
2. We are on a different planet altogether in an unknown year, but one that is likely parallel to Earth as various Asian influences are present here.
3. We are in a very tiny dimension where the only things in existence are the island, the monsters, and whoever abducted us.

Given the complete lack of history we have to go by as to what caused the island to be in this amount of disrepair, any could be possible.

Time manipulation? You mean like time travel?

Guess that would explain some things.

Of course. It is as I've said, many of us are from different places in time. From your reaction, you sound like you are just as out of place.
