Laura laid her head on Adama's shoulder, breathing in the smell of warm grass as he carried her across the field--and suddenly, the memory flooded her: that day, her diagnosis, sitting on a bench in a pocket park by her office, thinking that her life was over, but determined to fight...and boy, did she.
Lee blinked and she was gone--typical Kara, flighty (hah!), and committed to nothing except piloting and her special destiny--and of all times, now, when humankind has a chance again...well, he was going to take his own chance, and have a damn swim in the lake.
Starbuck maneuvered the Viper out of atmo and shot into the Black, in a move as familiar to her as wiping her face or sucking on a cigar, and, with the memory of Lee's face, backed by blue sky, floating before her, she did what she always did, and just kept on going.
