"H...ey," Kurt smiles, a little flustered by suddenly having a new face smiling in front of him, someone who knows his name, though he can't quite place hers. It's bound to happen, of course, with a party that's been labeled as open, free to all, certainly at least to plus ones, but it still leaves him slightly dismayed, being unable to place a name to one of his guests. Still, he does the best he can, eying her blonde hair and trying to place the voice, one which sounds a touch familiar.

But before he can pause for too long, he returns his gaze to her, grin bright. "Thank you, thank you so much, both for the birthday wishes and the compliment. I certainly hope that people are enjoying themselves, here." He peers over his shoulder, then back again, mentally running through the list of invitees.

Only then does he finally stumble across a possibility. Without the ability to track down 'Batgirl' on any of the mailboxes, he'd gone around asking people how one might track her down. Somewhere along the line, the invite got passed around, and there's no guarantee it actually got to Batgirl proper, but...

"Okay, I'm having some trouble placing your face, but your hair is about the right length and, being a singer, I have a tendency to hyperfocus on voices. Have we ever hung out? Say, like. By the trampoline?"

"And here I thought with my mask my secret identity plan'd be fool-proof." If they were anywhere but here, where her mom wasn't here to be hurt and the villain population was extremely low, this would be a big problem. But she's on an island with no Black Mask to go after her mom, no one to protect, and this guy seemed sweet and utterly harmless. She can live as Batgirl and as Stephanie without fear.

She smiles at him and holds a hand out to him. "Stephanie. Hi. Happy birthday."

"Your voice gave you away," Kurt points out with a grin, before reaching out for a gentle handshake, only feeling his smile widen as he gets a better look at her. Not that he's ever known that much about the general Batman story, but being able to put a human behind the mask and see her be just as normal as any of the other people at the party feels pretty good. The whole idea of having to hide behind a mask is complete fodder for writers to go all out with the disparate identites, but as far as Kurt can tell, Stephanie is at least someone who knows how to balance the two. "I'm pretty sure that if you had to be acting vigilante on the island, that you'd at least try to avoid stepping in the same circles too often, anyway. Or at least, around people who obsess about voice range and tone."

With a soft nod of his head, Kurt waves the both of them towards the food and drink. "Anyway, Stephanie, so good to meet you- again. And doubly glad that you could make it; I was kind of afraid that even if the invite made its way over to you, that I was too rude and overbearing in our first meeting for you to give me a second chance."

"Yeah, I guess I didn't really have my Batgirl voice on," she concedes with a shrug. Not that her Batgirl voice was really worlds away from her Stephanie voice, but it's better than nothing. It's still a long way from Bruce's Batman voice which is stony menace than teenage girl, but what can you do. Dick's Batman voice was a pale imitation of the original: he's got the menace but no one does 'I am the night' like Bruce.

"Well- I know Cissie and Bart. They made sure I was in the loop." She surveys the food table, trying to decide what she would eat first. For now, she's leaving aside the copious and home-brewed alcohol. Not that Steph's against it across the board, but she wants to have her feet well and truly under her here before imbibing. Trying not to be stupid reckless extends to all aspects of life, like a well-adjusted adult. She smiles at Kurt. "And you weren't rude or overbearing, you were annoyed a girl dropped in and ruined your homework. But water under the bridge. I could pour you a drink?"

"Those two... are dating, right?" Kurt finds himself asking before he can help himself. He's not usually the biggest gossip monger around, partially because he's so often been on the fringes of social life at McKinley, and partially because Dalton Academy simply isn't a place for that type of conversation to be held. But his natural curiosity have him practically climbing up the walls over this place, where having so few people but a high land to resident density inevitably means a great deal of relationships, and twice as many break-ups. So sue him if he wants to follow a little bit of that. It makes up for the lack of romance in his own life. "I've kind of been noticing them here and there, and they're really cute together, it's almost painful."

Flickering his gaze away from the lovebirds and back at Steph, Kurt offers a crooked grin. "Anyway, glad to let bygones be bygones, definitely. And I would be up for a drink, too- but only if you have one as well. I have plenty of non-alcoholic juices being served at the bar tonight, if that's more to your taste."

"They are dating indeed." She searches for them in the crowd and finds them talking between themselves. Cissie, looking beautiful in that gold and red, and Bart with those sunglasses, good God. They had been Tim's friends, first and foremost, she'd barely managed to achieve acquaintance status. But here, now, it felt like they were maybe her friends too.

It's a good feeling.

"Incredibly cute, right? You should see them after the cross country class, they're both sweaty and gross but still manage to be adorable."

Stephanie smiles and grabs two cups. "I am prepared to juice it up." Dorky, Stephanie, come on. "Which of these can I pour you? It's your birthday, after all."

"Ooooh," Kurt shakes his head, laughing at the very thought of it, his nose wrinkling in distaste. No matter how great his crush on Blaine was prior to his arrival on the island, he doesn't think that there's very much to be envied about two people hugging it out while drenched in sweat. Maybe it's just him. "Then that really must be love, right there. Because I'm not sure how many people I'd honestly put up with, after a cross country class. Including myself. It'd be straight to the showers."

Grinning, Kurt tilts his head, folding his hands neatly in front of him as he decides to let Stephanie do this much for him. "How about... passionfruit? It's just exotic enough that I still haven't gotten over the novelty."
