The election for the new Island Council term were finally finished, and I had the job of posting the results to the Compound bulletin board:

"Your face will freeze if you leave it like that," Coraline said looking just as sternly at Luke. "And then where will we be having to look at your ugly mug stuck like this-" Coraline made a face "-every day."

Coraline sighed, looking at Luke curiously. "What's the matter?"

"It's not that ugly and stop fishing for compliments." Coraline said nudging him in the arm. Coraline smiled up at him for once not too fooled by the light tone. Coraline knew that tone now, she'd used it on others when she was angry or upset. "You know you can talk to me if you want to. Is it... puppies? Are you angry because you didn't get a puppy? Or a party. Or girls? Or... I'll keep guessing."

"You could be angsting over puppies. You could be Batman on the outside and secretly angsting over puppies on the inside." Coraline said seriously. Coraline leaned against the table and smile. "But there is something the matter?"

"He's got the whole of Gotham to worry about but he can't save the puppies." Coraline said seriously, smiling when Luke smiled. Coraline knew she could make him smile. "Yes, I know but if you want to tell me about them then you can."

Coraline paused when he asked the question before crinkling her face up. "Danny thinks I should ask a boy out instead of waiting for him to ask me."

"I know but all the movies and books say boys are supposed to ask." Coraline said making a face. Coraline was going to ask Hiccup but she was nervous, scared a little because he was her friend. "Wait, he could have a bad reaction? Like... how?"

Maybe it's not the best decision, but Aphrodite just can't keep her mouth shut sometimes. She hasn't exactly gotten rid of all that assurance that came with invulnerability, even if she's the opposite now.

"What are you so grumpy about?" she asks Luke, one hand perched on her hip and the other holding some kind of fruity alcohol thing. She's wearing a teasing smile, but inwardly, she's a little afraid of his possible reaction.

Immediately, Aphrodite's intrigued, in part because the guy who most of the time wants nothing to do with her is actually telling her to talk to someone.

"I do? What about?" she asks, her expression a mixture of expectation and eagerness. Does Sis need her expertise?

"Now you've really got me curious," Aphrodite says, her eyes narrowing a little in consideration. "Whatever it is my sister's up to, it seems like it's got you a little worked up too. What's going on?"
