Fascinating (from a socio-cultural psychology point of view). If you look at outdoor markets in third world countries, that's what you'll see. Even in more developed countries, you'll see it as a carry over from their historic culture. Some cultures sprouted through the industrial age later and more quickly than other parts, and seems they still have tell-tale remnants of their less advanced ancestors..i.e., not enough time to weed out the 'less civilized' way of doing things as other parts of the world... (And that's not necessarily a good thing to weed out some aspects of culture).
