Not as Bummed as you are but ... Darn.arthurthedentedAugust 17 2008, 12:43:08 UTC
I know theres a strong drummer, bass player and guitarist out there now with the name Undersoul... but unless I think you were only the pain in the ass you NEEDED to be to HAVE a band... I hope they step up to the plate, get a front and some management and take it up a notch, but of the things that might have been 'holding Undersoul' back your voice wouldnt have made the top ten list.. and of the things holding Undersoul TOGETHER you and the support of the friends who came to see you would be in the top.. well 1 or 2.
I had been looking for a tactful time and way to say something about that set list.. each of the *individual* songs is great, but they START at "11" and stay there in terms of tempo and emotional content... and i thought 'wouldnt it be great to start out with something lighter .. build to a crescendo and then have one slightly less intense peice to trail off with?"... and oh yes.. it was obvious you were ALL throwing yourselves up against the wall from song number one and KEEPING it there in terms of intensity... and that some songs in the list that would give you a *BREAK* would have been good not only from a .. I'm not musical so I call it "narrative" perspective but to give everyone a chance to breath and steady down some.
Damn.
Sorry they handled that so VERY tactlessly .. but still hoping (against long odds) that they get a good front and soon and dont just dry up and blow away as a band.
My psychic radar tells me as a possible reason for their not looking you in the eyes that they may *already* have found someone .. and this person convinced them to do the break like this promising the moon and stars and talking up how great they'd all be together and how connected they are and contracts and gigs and fame etc.. but of course that they'd have to ditch you first. (call it a 10% chance?). In which case i suspect they're about to find out EXACTLY how bad that kind of person is to work with once they've stopped courting you.
Bummed about the band, bummed for you, and bummed that they could suck like that to do this so.. tactlessly (there had to be better ways if it needed doing at all)

I thought they were trying to be as tactful as they could. Better than dumping me in an e-mail or something. I would have liked to do more melodic slower pieces, but that just isn't what the guys wanted to play. And they built the music. Not me.
I don't believe they have a new front guy, although Hojo told me they asked one person or another. But I'd give more than a 10% chance that someone was whispering in a willing ear about how I'm holding them back, and making them look bad. Doesn't matter, really. Not a problem on my end anymore.
