Darkon rules!
(I have a naughty habit of posting out of sequence of events. I post as I have time. Sorry for any confusion.)
I had the most excellent time last night! The premier of Darkon was showing at the Alamo, and kalidascopeeyes wrote that Amtgard was doing a demo. I found out I had the night free at about noon, and fevershly called sharjinka and darien_spider to pull together a raiding party. Of course they came through for me, and we met just in time to show some support to friends on the other side, and meet some new ones. I swear I'd never met kalidascopeeyes before in person and wanted to, since it seems she knows many of my friends. It was great to finally meet her, and she introduced me to ladyeep who I feel like already is my people. She's a crafter, and wants to learn the secret of steel. So awesome! I wish I could have worn my gothic plate, but it just doesn't fit right yet and I can't get the damn thing on by myself.
Anyway, the movie was really really good. I was inspired by their game, and the players. These guys use a system a lot like ours, but have all these other features included in gameplay we don't. Also their equipment is pretty sweet. Their plate is bought (probably Indian) but I'm jazzed that they bother. I'm going to look them up and send an e-mail as soon as I have a chance. The movie really went into detail about the benefits of gaming, and live action, on a social development angle. Its what I always found the best about what we do. Taking the geek, and creating the man. Danny, wherever you are, I'm pulling for you.
