let's see now, the weekend.
on friday jen and i went to town center to shop for hot pink tights. unfortunately, we did not find any, even though we did find lots and lots of pink fishnets. we also saw a very sexy boy (at least, to me) at hot topic, the bastion of fake rebellious culture. again, unfortunately, the boy was very gay. why do all the cute ones have to be gay?
anyway, afterwards, jen and i headed down to starbucks, where we saw romy, rachel, and michelle, along with the rest of the world. we also saw three hipster kids who dressed the part...but were also sipping starbucks coffee in the e. cobb. fin. haha. then, two of jen's friends, paul and robert showed up...and paul was kinda cute. i don't think we would ever be compatible (he's too unmotivated and i'm too anal retentive), jen thinks that we are, in an offbeat way.
on saturday, i went to the extensive merchant's walk library to work on the research paper. it's gonna be a lot more work than i thought it would be, but, OH WELL! not like i was actually gonna be able to meet any of my self-set deadlines. after i finished, i ran a few errands and went to get ready for the GHP ball. yeah. it was meh at first, because everyone was waiting for the food to come (and not dancing), but afterwards it got a lot better. i saw deep, noah, mary beth, eve, sam, justin, and a bunch of kids i hadn't seen in a long time (including grope-y mcgroperson). it was nice...especially when people actually started dancing.
sunday, i met with alyssa and sharon at starbucks to study for physics, and then i ran some errands. i got home, did homework, and then, TO MY DISMAY, i turn on the TV to watch 60 minutes (yes, i know, i'm 60 yrs old, but i've been watching it with my parents since i can remember...and i really enjoy the stores) only to see that it has been pre-empted by FALCON FOOTBALL and LOCAL NEWS (MOSTLY ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS TREE AT THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION. oh, bitch, you betta believe i got angry! the sheer fact that sports and christmas were more important than the oldest (and non-trashy, like 20/20 or primetime) newsmagazine made me HATE the SOUTH more than ever before. I called CBS and left a message on their answering machine, and then called another person where i yelled something like this (no exaggeration):
OPERATOR: Hi, WGCL. How may I help you?
YAEL: Hi, I'd like to know why 60 minutes is not on my TV.
O: It's been pre-empted by Falcons coverage.
Y: (NASTY, and I mean NASTY tone of voice) I'd like to know when football and christmas became more important than the current state of our nation. I don't understand. Honestly, it's ridiculous to me that you choose football and christmas trees over current events and a higly respected newsmagazine. i stop everything i do every week to watch this show with my family, and it gets preempted.
O: I understand.
Y: Seriously, I hope you never do this again, or I will consider boycotting CBS. At least give some advance notice! Football is NOT as important as world news.
O: I will foward your complaint.
Y: Good. Goodbye.
I know she had nothing to do with it, but I was SO ANGRY!! I HATE THE SOUTH!!
