Mischief Manifested 13 Jan 2022 Notes

Jan 14, 2022 16:50

Our first gathering was via Zoom with Cheryl, Bob, Erin, Nathan and me. I didn't remember until the last minute that Ash and Gabe don't check Facebook often. Going forward, since there are so few of us, I'll post meeting details and date pollings via Messenger as well as on the group page until we're up and running.

TOPICS DISCUSSED: We talked about some of the things that we're interested in learning / teaching / doing, including:
Pagan 101: (grounding, charging tools, personal rituals, group etiquette, playing with energy, sigils)
Rituals / deities / lore: Egyption, Norse, etc.
Divination: Tarot, etc.
Hiking: Sometimes at weird hours like dawn and midnight - Hillsborough Riverwalk, Haw River State Park (Browns Summit), Eno River State Park (Durham), Umstead Park (Raleigh), Little River Park (Rougemont), Occoneechee Mountain (Hillsborough), Pilot Mountain (Pinnacle), Raven Rock State Park (Lillington), etc.
Outdoor meetup spots: - The Plant (Pittsboro), Botanist & Barrel (Cedar Grove), Honeysuckle Tea House (Chapel Hill)
Event caravanning - possibilities include: Viking festival (26-27 Mar), Festival of Legends (23-24 Apr), Manassas Viking Festival (14 May) Maryland Renaissance Faire (27 Aug-23 Oct), Carolina Renfaire (1 Oct-20 Nov), etc.
Attending outside workshops that people might think worthwhile - suggestions welcome.
Dance / movement: Border Morris, Hooping and Yoga Nidra, Belly dance (American Tribal Style (ATS), Fly Fusion, and Fat Chance Belly Dance), and learning the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut Witch Dance
Costuming: Viking, ritual
Photo shoots

The Group: At the moment the the group includes everyone above plus Sidra and Tobi. I've just invited a few others today from your suggestions. I want to keep the group small, and comprised of local people who tend to show up and be down for doing. Leadership would be fluid - whoever is / are the expert(s) on the topic / activity we're covering would take charge.

Next Zoom will be Sunday, 23 January 10AM-2PM (changed from The Dome due to snow - time might change). Ursula will give a Viking costuming workshop, as a bunch of us are interested in checking out The Viking Experience Festival at the Granville County Expo Center in Oxford (north of Durham). Here is their Facebook page.
Meeting Goals: Show-and-tell with loaner garb, demonstrating various looks for wearing at viking events, and basic garb construction, and hand sewing and sewing machine 101 upon request. We can also talk about other things that people are interested in doing as well as date and topics for the next meeting.
