Boring holiday weekend - Saturday

Jul 04, 2020 21:18

Today had the distinct feel of another wasted day about to happen before it started. Lack of sleep is destroying my quality of life. So many things I could be doing, but no will. I need to break down and get a decent prescription - or find a doctor that will write me one.
.
Got in a half session of hooping (half hour of core and 6 minutes hand spinning), then upstairs for decaf. We watched the part of Hannibal that Michael missed, then he headed back out. I attempted a nap. Was in bed probably two hours and got maybe 15-20 minutes dozing. Gah!
.
Internet is out again. Grr. Hoping that it’s just extra people watching NetFlix, gaming and Zooming over the long weekend and not something that’s going to bleed into the week. Michael came back, then headed out again.

This would be a great time to henna my hair. I keep forgetting to do it; the minute he leaves is best. It needs an undisturbed hour and a half, as it’s not an attractive process. While you’re bringing some water to boil, wash your hair, but don’t use conditioner. Wrap in a towel. Mix a cup of henna powder in a non-metal bowl with a non-metal spoon and enough boiling water to achieve the consistency of cake batter. While it’s as hot as you can stand it, use the spoon to push it into the hair, concentrating mostly around the scalp. It’s a lot easier to get rest of the hair coated. Mash it in well and cover with two plastic grocery bags and wait for an hour. Clean up while you wait. Then toss the bags, rinse in the sink and then the tub. Then use conditioner, which will make it easier to rinse out the remaining henna bits. Done. I used to henna about every six weeks, sometimes longer if I was being lazy. In my late 40’s my hair darkened, partly from change of chemistry, partly from less time spent outdoors, so it doesn’t take the colour as well. I’m going to try doing it every few weeks and see what happens. Maybe try a half hour in the sun every day, which I need to do anyway for vitamin D.
.
At 7:45 PM internet is finally back. No Fredonia Zoom tonight since it’s the 4th, but there’s a Windmasters one tomorrow from 7-8. Henna process & bath done by 8:35. Hearing some fireworks. Now to finish my hooping - today’s session and catching up for Thursday. I do need to start doing my hoop sessions in the morning. Less likely to skip a day and I won't spend the day feeling distracted and guilty.

Fifteen minutes shy of midnight and I'm all caught up on hooping. First a wee wallow on Facebook, then a game plan for tomorrow.
