Tennessee trip

Aug 29, 2010 23:10

Calm before the storm.  Final week before the monthly billing cycle.  Most of the August prep done.  All that's left is drafting the heads-up emails and checking the log for follow-up items - mostly stuff that's waiting on other people, reviewing two new contracts and drafting custom invoice templates for them.  Do-able before month end, so yay.

Need to maintain focus the whole time, especially now.  Prep done by Friday and as much of a jump on everything else as possible.  Friday afternoon through Monday we'll be embarking on an oddessy with Gary's Mom and Connor to visit family in Tennessee.  I'm hoping that this will be a relaxing visit and a chance to bond and not an ordeal.  To help that happen I need to chip in with a positive attitude.  So this week I need to be careful about sleep, keeping on the ski routine, and have my stuff packed a few days in advance so that I can start the trip on the right note.  Avoid talk about politics, cooking and religion.  Especially religion.  If I'm pressed too far, it could get....interesting...

"What church do you go to?"
"I'm a Snake Handler."
"Beg Pardon?"
"A Snake handler."
"What does Gary think about that?"
"Well, at first he's really into it, then after about three minutes, things get messy, then he gradually loses interest, rolls over and falls asleep."

Must....be...good.  I am a leaf on the wind....

family, work, travel
