Unstoppable Disco Nap
Was All Geared Up to go to Volume 11 on Friday, but by the time I got home from work, my eyes hurt to stay open.  I laid down for a disco nap at around 7PM and woke up at 1:45 AM, still tired.  Dang.  Gary wasn't feeling great either, and knowing that I was on four days of bad sleep and counting, he didn't wake me up.  It was like New Year's Eve 2008 all over again.  Of course we missed a good one.  Awesome pix - and I missed Brigida!  Nooooooooooooo!  But it was probably all for the best.  Lots more going on in the next few months and I don't need to let myself get sick.  Oh, and the sickness is coming.  I can see it lurking through peoples' blogs.  The summer Crud.  No thanks.  Just let me stay sick-free through the end of October!  We've got plans!  (Well, forever, since we're talking about fantasy here.)

Brain-Fried Hot Tub Battles?
Still had a decent weekend.  We sent out a last-minute invite for a Starfleet Battles game to folks that would be likely to want to do some Star Trek-related gaming.  I'll say it right now; I'm not a gamer, so my part tends to be sending and fielding emails and housecleaning.  Not a fan of housecleaning, but hosting a party is always a welcome kick in the ass to get stuff done.  There was grilling, eating and drinking and execellent company and much use of the pool and hot tubbing happened.  The Squirty Pirate Duck and the Coloured-Light-Flashy-Floaty-Disco Fountain were much in use.  Everyone was too brain-fried for Starfleet Battles, so the party devolved into a Game of Naval Battles.  Good times.

Ski Machine - Week 2.5 - Hanging on by a Thread
Meanwhile, I'd managed to use the ski machine for a half hour a day every day for 2.5 weeks.  Only missed a Sunday and made that one up by doing morning and evening sessions the following Wednesday.  So pretty much a perfect record through Saturday.  Then I let Sunday slide.  Lots of pain on Sunday.  A Certain Event had begun three days ahead of schedule.  Stayed in bed as long as I could.  At least it didn't eat up the whole day.

Castles, Contracts, Stakes and Holy Water
I helped a bit with dismantling some of the bits so that Alain could take the Castle parts off of our hands.  Another Unsightly Pile of Stuff gone!  Hooray.  Then it was off to work.  I felt physically draggy, but my mind was ready to knock down a few more contracts.  Got more than I'd bargained for when I logged on.  The India crew had already sent their responses to the analysis that I did on their juggernaut of a project.  Instead of the half-a-week back-and-forth free-for-all with no one wanting to make a decision, I actually got quick answers, clear, useful responses and timely follow-up, so I went ahead and sent it back for the final Stake and Holy Water round.  All we need is Dr. N's final approval and off she goes to India.

Pandemonium-free upgrade
I knocked back two more contracts and received notification that the accounting system upgrade that they ran over the weekend managed not to devolve into High Drama with a side of Pandemonium.  Yay, that.

Yes, the move is happening
Added more info to the Mail Merge for the Change of Address mailing.  I'm down to the last third of the list.  We were told that Contracts should be responsible for that, but we also know that it'll take them forever to get all the info together and it's unlikely that their info is current.  As soon as I get the go-ahead I can have all the letters posted and all the emails out in roughly 20 minutes.  Slept like crap Sunday night.  Still thinking about the final three contracts.  (More on the move later.)

Backslider!  Repent!
Woke up this morning with just enough time for a quick shower and arriving to work ....roughly on time.  Missed another skiing session.  Now I'm torn between soldiering through a workout or going to bed early so that I don't leave myself vulnerable to The Crud, and oh, yes,  Gary has it.  He called in sick and has been in bed all day.  We're determined to be in tip-top form for Carribean Carnevale Saturday night.  Gary's never been and some of his old work buddies are going and a Cat and Paul and a few others are hoping to have a bunch of us out there to traipse about together in ridiculous finery.  I'll be missing Clockwork Ball, which falls on the same day, and the September one, since I'll be in NYC that weekend.  It'll be about 50/50 that I'll be able to go to Tarrboro by Gaslight, since my mother in law will be here recovering from eye surgery.  It could go very well...or not, so we'll have to play that one by ear.

Wasn't I here just a few hours ago?
Lots of feedback on my work over the weekend.  New round of questions, answers and dragging decisions out of people.  July close deadline is 5PM Wednesday.  Just have two contracts to review and two invoice templates to build and calculate, then sending out the first drafts.  The rest of the time will be spent poking and badgering people.

Cleaning Up
As soon as the deadline is hit, I have two more contracts to reveiw for brand new projects, then badgering people to resolve some long-dragging issues that keep getting tabled.  This shit is getting sorted before we move.  No dangling issues allowed before we move out.  I'm hoping to have picked off all my action items from the Ops meeting last week before the Ops Director returns from Afghanistan in early September.  Plenty of time, and I'll be jealously guarding every minute of it.  Calendar is staying clear until this stuff is done.  There's also my Development Plan, Billing SOP and boxing up the final 4-drawer cabinet of billing stuff, culling all the dross from my desktop and drawers, perchance to have decent pix printed and framed for the new office.  I'll have a cube, but I'll also have wooden floors, exposed brick walls and my very own window.  (more on the new office space later)
