Now that good tv is back, I'm going to attempt to post more entries. DVR is dangerous. I used to be somewhat selective about the shows I watched. I admitted which shows were trashy and picked only the best of the trashy shows to watch (Top Model anyone?) Now, I figure I can DVR anything remotely interesting to watch later. This has resulted in my television viewing doubling. I currently watch Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Biggest Loser, Top Model, The Office, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and any BC or Patriots football games. I'm also eagerly awaiting Lost and Project Runway. Last night, I added another show. I'd highly recommend the new show Pushing Daisies, especially if you like Amelie. It's very quirky, but amusing, cute, and interesting as well. The art design (if that's what you call it for tv shows) is amazing. It just premiered and I'm sure they'll replay the first episode for people who missed it. For the first time in awhile, I'm really looking forward to a new show next week.
The Office had some funny and cute moments last night (Kelly's fake pregnancy, Michael and Jan's lunch, anything with Pam and Jim), but I thought the premiere was funnier. Perhaps I liked this one less because Michael is my least favorite character and he had a ton of screen time. I know he is supposed to be stupid and outrageous, but stealing the gift baskets back and driving into a lake seemed a bit over the top. Dwight's car escape mitigated the ridiculousness a bit because it was hilarious. Dwight made me slightly more sympathetic to his relationship dilemma by being so pitiful. I still wouldn't forgive him for killing Sprinkles though.
On a more serious note, I watched five minutes of Good Morning Amercia this morning and they were doing a segment on the female teacher whose husband killed her student lover. She apparently got another school job and slept with another student. I understand how this is irresponsible and troubling because of her profession. She obviously shouldn't be allowed to be a teacher.
I don't understand why they interviewed her husband, the "alleged" murderer, about whether he expected her to prey on more children! As her lawyer said earlier on the show in different words, the woman made mistakes, but this man killed somebody! They kept asking him if he thinks she'll prey on other children making it sound like she had molested young kids. They also asked if she had showed signs of this earlier. First of all, the murder victim was 18. She had consensual sex with another adult. Obviously the relationship was not acceptable because of her employment position and her marriage, but it wasn't some huge pedophile issue. The second student was 17. Again, pretty much an adult and an age when many people have sex. The whole focus of the segment made me annoyed. Up to the point I turned off the tv, the interviewer focused on how crazy and bad the woman was and never mentioned the murder. Grr.
