Well. [a puff through his nose] That was interesting. And I take it that's standard fare for ports, sans the Wardens disappearing.

I'd just like a show of hands. Anyone here utter the words "I'll be right back" in that place and wind up regretting it? Or any other horror movie cliche? I'd just like to make an inventory of them now.

Do you really expect anyone to tell you that, if they've got a good idea of it?

Not talking about it doesn't make it happen any faster, does it? So what have they got to lose?

Because there's always someone who'll let you down, who'll want to report you, or who'll simply say the wrong thing in the wrong place. That's what they've got to lose.

And it's suddenly a crime to voice your honest opinion?

No, but I imagine most people'll be reluctant to tell someone quite so new just what they're planning.

How do they know you want to help out after all? There's no guarantee.

I didn't ask what they were planning. I asked what they wanted.

Which is one and the same thing. Because how else do you get what you want, but by planning ahead? They're related.

[Twitch] Look, fucknut. You're making things needlessly difficult. You don't have to be planning to do something just because there's something here not being done that you think would make life easier for everyone involved. And even if you were you wouldn't have to say what it is you were planning.

And for the record, I don't want to hear it anyway.

And nothing that makes your life easier comes without planning, and, generally, some bending of the rules. Hence why you've posted this to the inmates, as far as I can see.

Rules that serve no true practical purpose can be changed.

Rules, afer a certain point, cease to serve any purpose.

See? Now we're on a similar page. And some rules are just fine and dandy and seem to work at inception, but people and places change, they become no longer necessary.

I address the Inmate population because I am one, and because unlike the Wardens we haven't the freedom to just say something should change and then it is done.

But, having said that, you really can't expect anyone to really share with you what they want, because it'd be a matter of trust.

And I really don't expect anyone to trust anyone around here. Just being an inmate isn't really enough.
