Remember, when off to see the wizard it's two skips forward, one skip back.

*That's* why I ended up on my tush!

I'd forgotten about that one skip back.

Sorry. Notifs. >> witchinbloom August 6 2009, 22:22:46 UTC
Tsk tsk, and you claim to be a Garland fan. In Oz you must always take the most unnecessarily difficult route.

They are of the suck today. :/ thatsmyjob August 6 2009, 22:30:16 UTC
I have yet to find my tin man, scarecrow and cowardly lion. That might have been what threw me off.

Looks like a bunch of social networking sites got simultaneously hit. witchinbloom August 6 2009, 22:34:03 UTC
Oh, well that's a different story. Completely understandable.

Thom Reston, it's a pleasure to meet you, Miss MaClay.

The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Reston.

Were you aware that Dorothy's slippers were, in fact, silver? They changed it for the movie because they wanted to use technicolor.

I read they were after Twitter? thatsmyjob August 7 2009, 15:27:32 UTC
Call me Thom, please.

I must admit that I did not know that. I've never actually read the book, I just grew up with the movie and wanted to be Judy Garland.

Twitter, LJ and Facebook all got it at pretty much the same time. witchinbloom August 7 2009, 16:37:43 UTC
If you'll call me Tara, sure.

Fair enough. I know plenty of little boys who shared that particular dream.

Sorry. Those books were a big part of growing up for me. The movie, too, definitely.

I think I can manage that, Tara.

My folks were a little dismayed but they got over that quick. Helped that I had an older brother who could be on 'grandchild' duty.

No need to be sorry! I probably should have read the books.

I think we'll get along fine, then, Thom.

You're from the new batch, huh? Where's home for you when you're not being kidnapped by aliens.

Hey, it's a commitment. I understand opting out.

I do like to get along with people.

New batch? Does this 'kidnapping' happen a lot then? I'm from New York and if what I've been reading in the guide is true, well let's just say I'm a garden varity human.

Words I never expected to type in my life!

Darn tootin! witchinbloom August 7 2009, 16:51:53 UTC
Much easier than the alternative.

There's a pretty constant flow of people coming in, but once every other week we seem to get surges like this.

What you've read in the guide is true, and there's nothing wrong with garden variety human. We've got more than a couple of those around. If you can handle New York, you'll do just fine here.

I totally agree. I find you make more friends with a well made sandwich than you might imagine.

Well, I'll admit I spent the first 36 hours convinced I'd mistaken my boss's drugs for my own vitamins and that all this was a hallucination. I'm just now making myself really pay attention the guide and think about getting my act together.

Poor sandwich. You are the most underrated of the lunch foods.

Your boss must have really good drugs. Please rest assured my subsequent offer is not actually an attempt to get my hands on some.

Is there anything you need? I've been here for a while, and people come and go. I've collected some of the basic stuff you might be in the market for, and I sure don't need it.

Oh but a sandwich made on home made bread with home made sauces can be a thing of beauty.

Err, well actually I'm pretty much starting from scratch here. I have the clothes on my back and that's about it. I now know where I can get some bits of furniture but I was hoping that maybe there was somewhere like a soup kitchen for new folks while we get on our feet and find jobs?
