I wrote this in response to the kid who said those awful things about Benji. I've been pretty quiet over this whole matter, but this really upset me. I posted this message on myspace so hopefully he will see it, but also to write out my feelings over the situation
I hope someone can forward this to him because so far I see that he is not recieving messages. Obviously, he's probably being bombarded by angry messages.
There is a lot of trash that comes and goes on this message board. But myspace has its benefits, especially when it comes to learning important news about friends that are in serious danger of losing their life.
Benji is a friend of mine, and more than a friend to most of the people who keep posting messages on his current status. I am grateful to these people who are keeping me updated, because we all don't want to lose him.
Just because Benji matters to us doesn't mean that every other sick person in this world is irrelivant. I'm sure most of these people have others who are praying, hoping, sending money and hanging on any news that they will survive. Just like Benji's friends.
I am not a Christian. And I will be honest that Tiffanie's writing on Jesus and faith sometimes have rubbed me the wrong way. But they have no way offended me. Just because I don't share the Reyes' families beliefs, I still respect that it is what they believe in and it helps to get through this incredibly hard time. Them asking for money has nothing to do w/ being Christian and it is by any means optional for his friends to donate.
What you wrote was incredibly rude, hurtful and disrespectful to Benji, his family and his friends. This is a public domain and we have the right to use it to be updated on Benji. If you don't like it, don't read it.
