It's Great..To Be..A Florida Gator!

"First we're gonna beat Jackson State.  And then we're gonna beat Purdue.  We're going to beat Butler, Oregon, UCLA, and Ohio State!  Yeaaahhhh!"

My wife is happy today.  And do you know why she's happy today?  Because her husband's team just won the National Championship in basketball again, and so I'm in a great mood!  Since we also won the National Championship in football in January, and finished with the consensus #1 football recruiting class in February as well, I figure this means that I'm going to be well nigh insufferable until August. Then the worry will start again.  But until that time, I'm going to enjoy this amazing string of successes.

Things are going so well that our women's gymnastics team won it's first SEC Championship since 1989.  Plus, the baseball program made it all the way to the championship game a couple of years ago.  And after all this, I've got to think we have a good chance of winning the All-Sports trophy from Stanford this year.  So, yeah, things are going great in Gainesville.  Maybe there's something in the water?

What is amazing about this year's run to the title is that it really was different from last season.   All year, our players have been talking about how they would have to climb the mountain using a different path than last season, and they did.  Last year, Joakim Noah became a dominant player in the post-season and carried the team to a championship.  The other players helped a bunch too, but you could see that Joakim was the star around with they revolved.  This year, the entire team pulled together to get to the top of the mountain.  Joakim wasn't as dominant, but Al Horford, Corey Brewer, Lee Humphrey, Taurean Green, and others pulled together to help Florida repeat as champs.  It's difficult enough to be great a something, but to have to learn to be great in a totally different way is simply amazing.

So my wife is very happy today.  She'll have fun laughing at me.  Laughing whenever a huge smile crosses my face for no apparent reason.  She'll know why I'm smiling.  She finds it funny that something like that can bring a smile to my face.  But she'll enjoy it none the less.  And I'm happy.  I'm happy that my Gators won, and I'm happy that I can give my wife something to smile about.
