if you have a day to waste you can click the "my dad" tag on my journal and read everything that happened.

Short(er) version: My dad and I were/are incredibly close. More like friends. He lived in VA. Toward the end of August '07 he was in a motorcycle accident that put him in a coma. He stayed in that coma getting better, worse, better and worse for about 9 months. I pretty much stopped everything and only worked to make money to go down to VA to visit him every month. Every nurse said he did better when I was around. I would go, talk to him, make sure they were treating him properly, wash his face hands and feet. The only person who was there more than I was was his sister Kim(one of his 5 siblings) because she lives in VA too. He was on an upswing and had been moved out of the hospital and into the nursing home and things were looking up, then out of nowhere he got really sick again and the doctors had to have "that talk" with us. He explained keeping him alive through machines at this point would be cruel and extremely painful for him and he would only get sick again and each time it would be worse. I flew down to be with him. My mom(who he was divorced from for a few years but he was still in love with her) and my brother came down for a day, his brother and two of his other sisters came too each seperately-not on purpose thats just how it worked out. The only one of his siblings who couldn't come was the one who he like never talks to. He stayed alive for 5 days after he was taken off life support...until the day after the last person came to say goodbye. Just myself and my aunt kim were in the room with him when he passed away, which felt right. That was in May of this year.

It feels like a disservice because he went through so much, not to mention I went through so much with him. I miss him and think about him every day.
