Room 511, Saturday Morning...ish

Apr 11, 2009 14:28

Francine, usually a morning person, woke up... slowly. Probably the punch. Wait, punch? Ohhhh, prom. Like before, it had been just a little too good, and they were dumb, dumb, du---

They?

Oh. Yeah. Oh.

There was a knock on the door. Hunith had discovered where one of her fathers could be found, and as aunt Ghanima had informed her of the situation she was prepared. She would impress him.

Merlin would be impressed by clean clothing at this point. But a child might work too!

Opening the door, he peered down at her. "Err, can I help you?"

"Hello, father," Hunith replied cheerfully, then she said a short spell, and the two of them were suddenly engulfed in a miniature desert sandstorm.

"Father?" Oh god, he had sex and this was his punishment! Merlin's eyes went wide and he reached out to put that to an end.

That didn't disappoint the girl much. "I've been practising. But Aunt Ghanima informed me that I am now travelling in time, and that you don't know me. I'm Hunith Faroula Atreides." She reached up to give him a hug.

"It's very... good." Terrifying. "Aunt Ghanima?"

Merlin's eyes went wide and horrified. "Who is your mother?" Please let Leto have a sister who wasn't like him at all.

She giggled. "I don't have one," she said. "Two fathers. But it doesn't matter that you are surprised. You told me you were when I was born too." She let go of him and waved her hands, releasing butterflies from them.

Yes, she was overdoing it, but he had to understand just how good she was.

It was very... "You have magic."

"Yes." She beamed. "And you give me books. But Irulan thinks I'm playing too much with it." She paused. "Are father and you arguing right now?"

"I--suppose you could say that," Merlin said, trying to be as diplomatic as possible.

She rolled her eyes. "Some things clearly don't change. Do you have any books I can borrow?"

"Just mine," Merlin answered before he could stop himself. "How did you get here?"

"You can show me, then," Hunith replied, clearly not expecting a 'no'. "And there was a vortex. Perhaps I should have been more careful, but I was experimenting and..." she shrugged. "I hadn't tried to conjure it, but it might have been a side effect. I don't believe it was though. It seems like plenty of gates were opened in the time-space between dimensions." She was clever, she understood these things.

"Perhaps." He had no idea what she was talking about. He was going to simply live in the library after this.

She took his hand and tugged it. "So, the book. And tell me something interesting. Oh, and is King Arthur here too?" It was best to know, after all.

"Prince," Merlin corrected quickly. "He's not a king."

No need to spook him more.
