All right then. Now that my abilities as a Warden have been properly scrutinized by the masses, I feel I ought to actually say something, yeah?
For the record, yes, I made a mistake. I admit that I should've taken further precautions. If I were so worried about Rose potentially doing something, I shouldn't have publicly argued that she might not, only to make a royal arse of myself the minute the situation looked untenable. It was sloppy and my actions showed very little regards for my fellow Wardens and for that, I am sorry.
But I don't regret trusting her. We treat our Inmates like criminals- yes, that's what they are- but we also expect them to change, and what incentive do they have to change if we don't try to trust them. So things like this happen and it's traumatic, but would it have been any better if I had locked her up from the start? If I'd refused to give her even a little bit of human decency and let her have something she wanted in the hopes she'd make the right choice?
I wasn't wrong to trust her, to be kind to her, rather than treat her like a monster... and that much I'll defend. Everything else... I'll accept whatever punishment the rest of the Wardens see fit. I certainly deserve it.
[Private to Leia]
I doubt you have anything to say to me, sistah, but know that I'm truly sorry.
[Spam for Rose]
[The end of Rose's tenure in Zero was drawing close and Desmond had finally calmed down enough to speak with her. He wasted no time when he arrived at the door to her cell to begin the speech he'd been trying to get into the mindset to give her since the night this happened.]
A group of strangers arrive on your island. They're nice people- good, decent hardworking people, much like yourselves. And certainly, they're outsiders, but they're not so bad. Except for one thing... Their gods have demanded that they burn your entire island to the ground or else every one of them will die.
Now imagine that, Rose, and tell me how you'd feel if you were in that situation.
