return of the hittysticks!!
cor. what a couple of days. first time i have been to a test match in a few years and it was AMAZING. i forgot how enthralling it could be and found myself watching nearly every single ball for two days.
much of the fun came from bantering with theconvert and looking at fun stuff they don't show you on the telly through binoculars. but we had a fantastic couple of days' cricket to watch - england coming back from the dead on friday and south africa edging out in front over the course of saturday.
graeme smith's innings was simply awesome. not just a masterclass in batting but a captain's innings under real pressure and all this when suffering obvious discomfort from a back that was pretty dodgy on day one, let alone spending the entire day at the crease. i didn't leave my seat from the moment we arrived on saturday until the end of the match some eight hours later. GRIPPING.
i am now going to pull out all the stops to get tickets for the oval next weekend. i can't wait!!
oh, and it appears vaughan is going to resign. cripes.
