lol from your thread, I'm glad I gave it a miss. and that's what grabbed me first, I was like, wait, that kid is supposed to be Dean? thafuck? I haven't seen any screencaps of the kid that was Sammy in the ep so idk but casting fail.

and yeah I don't think it was any worse than we've gotten before but I don't think you understand the vitriol on tumblr, haha. jaysus, all these johnny-come-latelies HATE John and fall on any perceived neglect or abuse like hyenas.

but still (and keeping in mind this opinion is just based on the recaps of the ep I've seen), it doesn't make sense to me that John would leave Dean solo and unprotected if he could at all help it? there have been so many things re: John's characterization since s3 that seem ooc to me, and I don't give a fuck that it's canon because you know. lalala I can't hear you. a friend on tumblr had some great canon-repair or missed opportunity thoughts about this ep which I agree with 100% - http://melthemagpie.tumblr.com/post/67564846728/cinematicnomad-funnybutmaybenot-this-is-why

but anyway, I think I'm done with future episodes of this show. I mean, I've been kind of blah and argh the last few seasons, but this was kind of the thing that lets me nip this last thread free. because idk, you can fuck with what happens to them in the present tense and fumble it and drop the ball but there's something about fumbling on pre-canon that is just intolerable to me.
