my posting to the contrary. interested to see who else is watching what and where you agree/disagree with me
Being Human US - I was a little worried in 3.01 of whether I'd like the direction they were heading, but as of 3.02, they seem to be back on a track I can groove on. They've changed the game but there are still lots of interesting stories to tell. It's tied with Grimm for my favorite supernatural drama right now - both of them in a mostly non-fannish way or a pre-fannish way, just invested and enjoying it. At the core of it, I watch this one because I just *like* the three main characters and their friendship.
Grimm - how thrilled was I to find an EPISODIC supernatural drama on television? There is a running thread of plot but it's just a couple eps per year, like old-school Buffy or X-files. The thing that snagged me about this show was the relative novelty of their mythology. The captain is sexy as hell to me, and I kind of wish there was a pocket of Nick/Renard fanfiction I could read, cuz I'd be all up on that. I actually really liked Nick and Juliet as a settled, happy couple in the background of the story, but I guess they had to bring a romantic plotline into it eventually, and like I said, the captain's hot, so. No complaints.
Arrow - It's not a great show, but it's good enough for me to consume. ngl, I watch for Oliver and Diggle. I ship it. I love that Diggle saw right through him from the beginning and doesn’t put up with his shit and is, in reality, more of a hero than Oliver because he’s more self-actualized. And that they don’t try to convince us differently - Oliver is the protagonist because he’s the one with the mission, but Diggle really isn’t his sidekick on any level. He’s his own man, deciding to help out for his own reasons, and now that I’ve written mini-meta making this show seem 1000x more intellectual than it is, I’m going to shut up.
Last Resort - well, when I started drafting this, I *was* enjoying this show. And then they cancelled it. *sigh* I didn’t know that until I finished the finale ep and I was like, wtf are they destroying their own pacing right now…oh. Foiled again.
Shameless - I just…really dig on the white trash soap opera, I can’t even lie. After I watched the pilot, I was like, eh. And then I couldn’t stop tuning in. they’ve done such a great job of making me fall in love with each of the characters.
Suburgatory - I really loved this show for the first like...season and a half. I thought maybe they were reviving the half-hour sitcom? But now...George and Dallas. Tessa and Ryan. I just....whut. although as of the last episode, George and Dallas are growing on me a little. Goddammit.
Shows I watch more out of routine / obligation than anything:
The Mentalist - goddammit, still waiting to figure out what's the deal with Red John, though this season is kind of blah to me
White Collar - just got back...I wasn't terribly hooked by the first episode, or any ep since. They've been slowly losing me, and although I still believe in the ot3, I just don't...*care* like I used to.
Grey's Anatomy - my heart's not in it after Mark and Lexie (*sob*), but the quality is still decent enough that I keep tuning in.
In the category of 'why why dear god why am I still watching this': Supernatural, Bones, Leverage (though I'm behind)
