Anime Rec's: A Masterlist (and WIP)
I should totally be working on William Lockhart for Populous Postea (/shamelessplug). Instead, I'm working on starting an Anime rec list of series I own, have watched, or began but never completed for one reason or another. So, in no particular order...
Gunslinger Girl (13/13)
Officially, the Social Welfare Agency is a government sponsored corporation that's in the business of saving lives. At least, that's the ruse. In reality, it's an agency on the fringe of technology. They give terminal patients another shot at life using cybernetic implants. This conditioning process then shapes the patient into an efficient machine for handling all of the governments dirty work. They've been given a second chance at life, but at what cost?
Kurau Phantom Memory (4/24)
Her name is Kurau, and in a worlf of mercenary agents, she's the cream of the elite; a master martial artist and thief so skilled that no secret or objective is beyond her grasp. The greatest secret of all, however, is the one Kurau conceals within herself: The freak result of a disastrous experiment with a new kind of energy, Kurau's body has been fused with a binary alien life form called the Rynax. Every second Kurau lives is lived twice, one alien sharing her consciousness, the other still waiting to be born... and now none of those lives may last very long! The truth about Kurau has begun to leak out, a worldwide manhunt as been launched and now the ultimate agent is the ultimate target.
Rurouni Kenshin (22/95)
In the early Meiji era, after participating in the Bakumatsu war as the assassin "Hitokiri Battōsai", Himura Kenshin wanders the countryside of Japan offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed. When arriving in Tokyo in the 11th year of Meiji (1878), he meets a young woman named Kamiya Kaoru, who is in the middle of a fight with a murderer - who claims to be the Hitokiri Battōsai - tarnishing the name of the swordsmanship school that she teaches. Kenshin decides to help her and defeats the fake Battōsai. After discovering that Kenshin is the real infamous assassin, Kaoru offers him a place to stay at her dojo noting that he is peace-loving and not cold-hearted, as his reputation implies. Kenshin accepts and begins to establish lifelong relationships with many people such as Sagara Sanosuke, a former Sekihō Army member; Myōjin Yahiko, an orphan from a samurai family; and a doctor named Takani Megumi, caught in the opium trade. However, he also deals with his fair share of enemies, new and old, including the former leader of the Oniwabanshū, Shinomori Aoshi and a rival from the Bakumatsu, Saitō Hajime. (Source)
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (4/4)
Kenshin, a deadly assassin, possesses a soul as war-torn as the battlefields of Japan. With his bloody work slowly stripping away his humanity, he still hopes for peace. Kenshin finds this hope personified in Tomoe, a beautiful yet mysterious woman who shows him a life beyond the sword. Sadly, she too is torn by ghosts from her past. Can Kenshin and Tomoe save each other?
Saiyuki (??/50)
This series is remotely based on one of the most famous Chinese classic tales, “The Journey to the Western World”. This legend has been the source of many television programs and feature films. However, in “Saiyuki”, the legend is fictionalized and the result is almost an original creation. (Source)
