NOTES: This mix is for the first of the two video games released in the latest Tomb Raider franchise, which have rebooted Lara's storyline and are not related to any previous reincarnations (older games, films, etc.).
Lara's descent into Tomb Raider-dom begins onboard a ship headed off to find a long-lost island kingdom. She's a young, fresh-faced explorer, she has her best friend Sam with her, and it's her first real adventure. Yay! Good times all around. Then everything goes horribly wrong, because that's just how origin stories tend to go. She wakes up hurt and alone, shipwrecked on an island full of handy, MacGyver-able debris, bloodthirsty natives, nasty men who have an awful lot of guns and ammo for people who live on a mysterious unknown island, and basically no clue what on earth is going on. Lara has to learn how to survive the harsh environment, kill the two different factions of people trying to kill her, save her best friend Sam from radicalized religious zealots, and get what's left of the ship's crew off of the godforsaken island - TOTALLY SOMETHING YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD TWENTY-SOMETHING-YEAR-OLD RECENT ARCHEOLOGY GRAD CAN DO, OBVIOUSLY. Upon completion of the game, it is obvious that Lara is not the same person she was at the beginning; she's been through hell, and she's found herself at the end of it.
