NOTES: Sherlock is a BBC series about a detective who solves crimes in London.
Originally set from 1880 - 1914, this adaptation takes place in modern times. Ripper Street is a BBC series about a detective who solves crimes in London. It is set from 1889 - 1890. I personally like to describe it as "Sherlock Holmes: SVU," because it definitely has a Sherlockian vibe - right time, right place, right occupation - only it's a trio of men working for the police solving the crimes. The SVU part comes from the large amounts of gore and sexual-related crimes packed into each episode OR AT LEAST THERE WAS BEFORE IT WAS CANCELLED.
