[ The Doctor is at the console of the TARDIS, as always, working on his ship. As always. Except today the doors are open, revealing the backdrop of a very gorgeous nebula. The TARDIS is humming as well, giving the feeling that nothing is wrong. Or at least, not in a panic sort of wrong. The Doctor has discarded his tweet jacket over the railing and ( Read more... )

[Rory tries very hard not to wander the TARDIS but it sort of gets to the point where he has to because he's as curious as Amy is sometimes and he likes knowing where things are. It's a Rory thing.

He eventually finds himself at the console room and then, at the door, because it is a gorgeous view and he'd have to be dead not to appreciate it.]

Woah. [And then, because someone does not know about pockets.] Doctor, shouldn't we be sucked out to our soundless doom about now?

[ The Doctor glances up at Rory, at the doors, then at Rory, and finally back to the console. ]

Rory. You determined that the TARDIS is an actual dimension within itself, but you didn't bother learning about air shields? Extended ones at that! We'll be fine.

Science fiction is very conflicting you know, and it all gets a bit - [Hand wave] When you spend days reading nothing but.

The Leadworth library doesn't exactly have a wide range anyway, and they were all mostly checked out by the old man who ran the sweet shop and wouldn't sell flying saucers because they were really alien.

[ That makes him stop and stare at Rory. Why is it the more he hears about Leadworth, the weirder it is? It's supposed to be a small tiny town of... boring! ]

That's what Amazon is for. You have Amazon in your century, don't you?

[Deadpan.] I'm a nurse. In case you didn't know, the NHS hates everyone and everything.

What does the National Health Society have to do with Amazon? One does health-y thing and one does book-y things. Unless you mean medical books. Then I sort of understand... nope, nope. I am not following at all.

Or is Amazon for America only?

Books cost money, mostly lots of money. Being a nurse isn't lucrative in profit.

Well! Isn't it good for you then that the TARDIS has a library? For free! Just stay away from anything that isn't labeled your century or before. I can't have you making medical breakthroughs sixty thousand years before they're supposed to happen.

Are you actively encouraging me to read science fiction? What if I get it wrong and cause a war or something?

How are you going to cause a war, Rory? You're brilliant! And, it's fiction. There is truth in fiction, yes, but fiction is still fiction. Not non-fiction! Hence the name ant the "non" in front of it. So, yes, you can read science fiction! Well, I'd support you reading actual scientific facts over fiction.

That would require the TARDIS manual.

Which is currently burning up in a supernova, so, we're out the manual.

[Shaking his head slowly.] Okay, so I should just read something. Anything.
