Here Come The Tears

I don't know how this slid in under my radar...

I will never forget the first time I saw Suede live.   I think it was the first time I truly lusted after a rock star.
(They played at the Masquerade Music Park three days after a killer Jesus and Mary Chain/Mazzy Star show.  I thought it was the best week of music EVER! )
Suede appealed to me on two levels.  First and foremost, they were beautiful, adrogynous British boys who brazenly embraced their pansexuality.  As a 14 year old boy, just coming out and discovering his love of all things eyeliner and glitter they, obviously, appealed to me greatly.   Second, Suede churned out dramatic glamourous rock full of angst and sex and drugs and fashion and death.  I loved and followed the band up until its demise in 2002.
It came to my attention, on Saturday, that Brett Anderson (the lead singer and lyricist) and Bernard Butler (the original and best guitarist, who left the band midway through the recording of their second album) reunited last year and released the above album.  I don't know how many Suede fans read my journal...but if you are, and you haven't heard this album, you must!  It is a masterpiece!  Hell...even if you aren't a Suede fan...if you just love britpop...or glam rock...or just enjoy good fucking music, I cannot recommend The Tears highly enough.
