The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of. - Blaise Pascal
It makes no sense that a nine hundred year old Time Lord and a nineteen-year-old shop girl should be soul mates.
The former has seen and done so much that his heart is cold and full of bitterness and grief. The latter has seen and done so little, every new experience is met with wonder and fascination.
He is broken and she is just beginning to form. He is alone in the universe. She is surrounded by friends and a mother that love her.
She speaks compassion when his heart cries for vengeance. He is the eternal and she is fleeting.
She loves without question when he refuses to be loved. He saves her life and she mends his soul.
What they feel for each other makes no sense; and yet, they fit together perfectly from the instant he takes her hand. Nothing, including the void that separates the two universes in which they now reside, can change the fact that forever is written on their hearts or the fact that apart, they are incomplete, halves of a whole.
