I love Keane. I was introduced to this band when I was in the Philippines. Of course, my dumbass failed to buy the 20 cent bootleg...so now I must resort to finding a friend who'll burn me a copy or buy a used one at The Beat.

Anyway, Kristina Peralta is interning at the State Capitol. What a freaking beautiful pinay!!!Sometimes, it feels like the community seems so stagnate because people never leave the process part of it (I'm not hating on the process part...I just feel that its only one aspect of creating change..I love processing). I mean, you can attend all the conferences you want, join every group discussion on oppression...(I'm tired from work so this not might be translating well)....the point is that if you never leave this stage of your life, you fail to reach the really good part of creating solutions...creating change for these problems. What's the point of feeling all empowered and shit if you never do anything with it? For instance, nearly everyone in the Filipino American community can talk about the Veterano issues....have attended workshops about this issue...have cried by watching panels.but who acts on it? I not saying that there aren't people acting on it, but I am saying that there are too few people acting on creating change. Also, when I talk about change, I'm talking about changing an institution- not the temporary fixes. Of course, I simplify things. I should take into account that people process at different levels....the temporary fixes are part of the end solution...people are so burned out from working on the temporary fixes to aim for the bigger goal. Anyway, it's just very amazing for me to see somebody actually working on different peices of legislation that will affect a huge ass population....she's drafting her own Assembly Bill...and she's like 20 years old.
