"Where's my megadeus?"

I wish that I could wear yellow shirts...

This morning in the car on the way to work I was thinking about this conversation I had with Belen sometime last year when they started showing these commercials that proclaimed "today the future arrived" or something like that and we started getting all mad about how these science fiction novels and movies (2001 a space odyssey, cowboy bebop, 1984, etc) claim that by now we should all be riding around in space ships, traveling with the assistance of jet packs, and everyone should have access to giant robots. I mean there are so many shows that feature giant robots: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam, Big O, Megas XLR, The Iron Giant. And yet we are here in the future and we still don't have personal jet packs [available to the public] or giant robots (yes I neglected to say flying saucers because you can find the instructions to build one of those on the internet). Belen finalized the conversation by asking the ultimate question of the day: "So if we're in the future then where's my megadeus?!"

If our society is so technologically advanced then why can't we all have giant robots to help us walk to work and defend ourselves against bullies at school? As citizens of the future we should demand the giant robots that have been promised to us for so long. Write to your congressman (or woman) and demand that we be given the gundams that we rightfully diserve!
