FROM THIS                                 TO THIS

    >>>>

This is the final tutorial from when I opened requests a while ago, it was requested by loveliesandlust. So sorry for the delay hun, I've been trying to locate the maker of a certain texture used. Finally found who's it was now so here's the tutorial :)

This is my base image of Karen, looking very pretty I might add!
Next I duplicate my layer and set it to Soft Light 100%, really darkening the image up. The soft light layer helps hide some of the grainyness of the base image which is always good.
Next I repeat the above step, duplicating and setting to Soft Light 100% once more. I want the background  & shadows to be as dark as possible ready for the future layers. Don't worry that Karen is looking overwhelmed by all the black, we're now going to deal with that.
To bring out her beautiful hair and to brighten her skintone I create a new layer and fill it with #DB9C8F and set tit to Soft Light 97%. Now she looks much better.
Next I use Levels to really enhance the vibrancy of the red shades.

RGB:
Imput levels; 9, 1.00, 224.
This next step seems to detract from the last stage, but it will make a difference to the finished product and stop the textures washing Karen out.

I create a new layer and fill it with #423F3D set to Soft Light 100%
One thing I really didn't want to loose was the fiery tones in her hair, and I also didn't want the shadows on her face to be too overwhelming, so I created a new layer and then I took a large (around 200-300 pixels) round soft brush and set my colour to #F3D8C8. I then coloured over her face and hair. I set this to Soft Light. I then erased the layer from her eyes and lips.
Here I opened a texture by batsdoitbetter  and cropped it until I got this I placed this where I wanted it over my image and set it to Multiply 100%. I then erased most of it until I was left with just the clock over Karen's dress.
Next I add another texture, this time from www.shattered-memories.net. Again I crop it to this. I set this layer to Screen 100%, and erase the texture from Karen's face, and from the parts of her hair where it looks too much.
Yet another texture is added: click
this was made by batsdoitbetter

I set this texture to Multiply 100%. I used a soft brush to erase the texture from her face, but my eraser was only set to around 55%, so some of the texture's colour remains to darken her skintone slightly.
Finally I add this last texture to lift things a bit. Texture was orginally a 100x100 texture by eternalpasion

I've made it 500x500 pixels and used a gaussian blur filter on it to soften it.

Set this texture to Soft Light 25 % and the that's the end of that.
To turn it into an icon I simply resized it accordingly, and sharpened the image slightly, and here's our finished icon :)
