I gave my boyfriend a single rose for Halloween. It was the first time I've ever given a lover a rose. (Actually, this isn't entirely true, but it is the first time I've ever given a lover a rose I didn't pick myself, which [at least to me] makes it a different category of flower, so it feels true)
