If you threw a party, invited everyone you knew

This time of the year makes me want to throw parties. Large outdoor affairs, always imagined as taking place in my Mama's backyard, which is made for parties such as these, so long as you don't mind weeds, and I don't. I want to invite everyone I know to come and hang out with me, and eat, and drink, and generally make merry.
In my mind there are children there during the day, probably because I think it's just right that outdoor parties should have children. I like that they giggle and laugh unselfconsciously, I like that they weave in and out of the different groups of people that are mingling, as they play tag, or hide and seek. Having children around in that type of environment reminds me that I don't actually hate kids.
In my imagination there are lots of people there, people I know, and people I don't know, and everyone is getting to know each other, and talking to people that they might never have the occasion to talk to out in the real world. In my imagination these parties start in the afternoon, and end in the wee small hours of the morning, with various groups of people coming and going in between, there aren't any activities planned, just casual conversation among friends and strangers.

I could probably even make it all happen, perhaps not quite as it is in my mind, but around there, if only I wasn't so lazy. Damn the lazy.

friends, party, imaginings
