I'm currently in the midst of moving, and I guess it's going about as well as can be expected, except that nothing is going quite right. I'm not stressing out about it too much, because stressing won't do a damned bit of good, but it's certainly annoying me a tad.
Item: My stepdad (they're not actually married, it's an honorary term) decided to replace the floor in the bathroom, which was a good idea, the floor was awful when I lived there last, and these things don't tend to improve with age, but after removing the previous flooring (and cutting through ANOTHER pipe in the bathroom, I swear, you'd think the man would learn) he realized that the joists were not level. Really not level. So not level that I can stand in the doorway, in the dark, and tell that they're not level. Given his track record, and the size of the project at hand, the chance of there being running water by the time I'm "moved in" is highly unlikely. Until this project is completed there will be a claw-foot bathtub, laying on it's side, in the area of the house where a coffee table would normally be found. It's a decorating idea, for sure, and goes pretty well with the rest of the funky-hippie groove that the little house is overflowing with, but it's not a decorating idea that I'm happy with.
Item: My little sister's shit is still in the house. (Not literately, thankfully, apparently on Saturday morning, before the bathroom construction started they actually hauled an entire wheelbarrow's worth of "dirt" out of the composting toilet. For this, I have only one, long, word: Eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I'm happy about some of it, when I moved into my little studio apartment, there was much downsizing to be done, and with it went pretty much all but the bedroom furniture, so I'm grateful for the oh-so ugly couches, and the table, and I'm pleased that there is some shelving in the living room. These are all good things. I'm not thrilled about all the rest of the stuff. There's lots of it. LOTS, I say, including an unknown number of boxes that my Mama has agreed to ship to Hawaii. Unless she wins the lottery I gather that the greater number of them will be living in what I had imagined would be my space for a good long while.
Item: My stepdad built a much-needed closet in the middle of the bedroom. Consequently, none of my bedroom furniture will fit in my bedroom. Actually that's not entirely true. There's certainly room for the nightstand, so technically MOST of my bedroom furniture won't fit. I wanted the armoire in the living room anyway, since it's where I keep the television, but I guess the dresser will live there too, perhaps I'll put in on top of the bathtub. Still trying to figure out what I'm gonna do about the bed. There's room for the mattress, so worst case scenario I guess I can just put the pieces of the frame somewhere, but I'm not pleased about it.

Life is good though. Very good. It's been nice seeing a little more of my family, and I'm still so madly in love that I'm almost unbearable.
