For those of you who haven't been around here for long,
Relay For Life is a huge part of my family's life. It's one of the most important events of the year, as close to our hearts as Thanksgiving. There were numerous candles there for my dad, my brother, my grandmother, my aunt, my cousin, two of my mother's best friends, and countless other friends, teachers, and people who have had a place in our lives. The four of us had to miss it this year, but my parents did their best to make up for our absence. The numbers aren't in yet, but the county has never missed its goal.
There are too many members of my family with candles in their honor and memory along that walking track. We have too many t-shirts, too many bracelets.
Please, if you or anyone you know has been touched by cancer, do what you can. Find a team to walk with for their Relay event. Buy a candle. Buy someone's raffle ticket. Something. Help us fight so that one day, maybe we won't have to.
