some stuff i've been thinking about
i was thinking about this the other day and thought i could share it.
so basically my train of thought started with how temporary and conditional everything in this life is. and how the only thing that isnt temporary is God or some kind of divinity. for example, let's say i live in this totally awesome house and if i don't keep up with the payments i can't keep it. it's also temporary cause it will only stand for AT MOST a couple hundred years... it could get struck by lightening or be flooded and then it would totally be ruined. let's, for arguments sake, not be materialistic and use the example activities that we find pleasure in doing. a runner will only find pleasure in running til he's too crippled to walk, or his legs or amputated or something. even in relationships, the satisfaction of loving the person lasts only as long as our memory of them does. they will pass away and all we will have left is memories, once they are gone... so is that love unfortunately. God is the only source of stability and constant unconditional love if you really think about it. everyone says that parents have unconditional love, but if a child disobeys their parents to the point that humans can't forgive for, then really it's not unconditional. a lot of people say it's unconditional until it's really pushed to the limits.
the other thing that i've really been thinking about is something my pastor said to me one day. my step dad asked him at this meeting thing that i was sitting in on, how we can progress the praise band service and he said "i think that it's going appropriately slow" and we're like "cracka what?!" and he's like "well a lot of times people who try to start these services RUSH like mad purely out of emotion and forget to include the timing of God and the movement of the Holy Spirit"
what i've really been thinking about is, why can't we apply that to everything that we do? why can't we just including the Lord's timing in everything that we do? why does it always have to be about when I WANT IT.. you know? especially i think that these things need to be considered when dating someone. i gotta go to dinner now...
