I haven't posted in a really long time, although lots has been going on in my life. I finally finished the semester after finishing my observations and doing my final project. I did pretty well on my math final, so I'm excited about that. I've been really busy and am excited to have a month off. Even though my job is totally stupid and cutting back hours to a mere 2 hour/day quota. I haven't been able to work much in December because I've been so busy with school stuff, and now that I finally have the time, they are being shitty about it.
Anyway..... there's been some interesting developments in my family over the past couple weeks, so I think I'll talk about those.
1) My uncle, who divorced my aunt about year ago, revealed that he has a girlfriend and a 2 year old son in Vietnam. Yes, we all see what's wrong with that picture. My cousins are split on how they feel about it - one is being supportive and the other wants nothing to do with him, which I can understand. My aunt is of course, hurt by it. It's pretty shocking. Kinda like when I found out that my sister who I hadn't seen in 20 years tried to call me up. It's such a simple act, but is emotionally HUGE. The best way I can describe it is like finding out someone who died a long time ago isn't really dead.
2) My cousin knocked up his girlfriend and they're getting married in February. My first reaction was Woohoo!! It wasn't me!! And then I was like... holy shit. What is it these days with girls getting knocked up? I feel like there are so many different options available to prevent pregnancy. There's even the emergency contraception pill as a back up in case the condom breaks. Do people not know about this? Do they not care? I know I am so paranoid about getting pregnant, I am like a walking encyclopedia of different birth control methods.
As a little background, both my dad and my uncle knocked up their girlfriends at a young age, and then married them. Which is why I felt like it would happen to me - sorta like an inherited thing. But my cousin was first! Honestly though, he's 24 which is a lot older than his parents/my parents were and he has a good job, so I wish them the best. And of course a baby is always welcome in our family. It's crazy, there will be 5 living generations of my family. We like to reproduce at a young age.
In other, lighter news, I had a good Christmas. It was good to see my family and eat and drink and be merry. And get presents. There were no fights with my parents (shocking, I know) which is always a good thing.
There's a tiny iota of a chance that I might go to Florida with my aunt and cousins for a week. So that's insanely cool.
That's about it. Hope everyone that reads this is doing well.
