Halfway through my review/analysis/discussion/whatever of Hesitation Marks, LJ fucks up and I lose it all. My level of pissed off right now is at an all time high. Whatever fuck it. I like the album. A lot. It's one of those albums where I just liked it alright the first time through, but by my third listen I was saying "THIS IS FUCKING ( Read more... )

I noticed you were listening to Pillars on Last.fm, I'm glad you like it. I adore John Lee's narration on everything I've heard him do. He also read another one of Ken Follett's books, Fall of Giants, that I've listened to. When I come to AFFC chapters in my AFFC/ADWD reread, I always hear his voice. I remember the way he makes certain inflections and whatnot. Sometimes the same comes up with Roy Avers for AGoT, but not nearly as often.

When I wrote the dreams (most about a page long, some a page and a half), it was a lot of fun for me because I tried to write it in that character's voice. This being a role playing game, it was an interesting exercise because I tried to take what the players had done in game and extrapolate personality. It was kind of the reverse of writing a movie or play or something where you take what the actors do and then make characters around that.

I liked the previous Saints Row because it took all the goofy stuff that I liked about the early GTA games and cranked it up even further. By the time they get to SR3, the series is only barely recognizable as a GTA clone, and with SR4, it's much more of a general open world game with a super hero-like character. The missions are ridiculous and over the top and it's just a lot of fun. And yeah, all the Saints Row games have had great character customization.

I may start doing non-personal stuff on Tumblr (http://fromzebeswithlove.tumblr.com/). Put my music, game, etc writing over there and leave LJ for, well.. shit I want to tell you, heh, or just get off my chest.
