I love reading the local police blotter because it's a great source of entertainment and it can give me an idea of what's been going on near my accounts. ...Mostly for the entertainment...
I present two incidents that both happened in Redwood City (between San Jose and San Francisco):
Broadway and Mills Way, 8:35 p.m. Thursday Three men -- one with a gun pointed at the back of a person"s head -- demanded money. For their effort, they netted $2.
Kentfield Avenue, 4:40 p.m. Friday A resident said a neighbor keeps accusing him of stealing rocks from his yard. The previous night, he said the man was whistling "the worms go in, the worms go out" and was screaming "Thief! Thief!"
With a little research, I discovered that the man was whistling The Hearse Song, a folklore ditty popularized by British soldiers during the Crimean War.
The lyrics and the tune is here. Man, I wish I knew this song when I was in the Boy Scouts/Explorer Scouts. They would have loved it.
