It is official, Wednesday afternoon I was sworn in at City Hall by Mayor Newsom to the Treasure Island Developement Authority, as a member and Commissioner of the Board of Directors.
My role will to be to over see the business of the island currently, residents, business tenants etc. I hope I will be able to help make more city services available to island residents, and help create a central community atmosphere on that end. There is also a massive plan working it's way through City Hall right now which if approved by the Board of Supervisors, would fortify the man made island, clean the pollutants left by the Navy, create 6,000 new family style homes, 30% affordable housing, build to the highest standards of green sustainable practices, a new ferry line, a new neighborhood economy, a large new marina, and the third largest park in San Francisco. I will be in an oversight position over that process at least until my term expires in 2010, although it could be 15-20 years before the plan is entirely finsihed.
My father and grandparents and a number of friends showed up for the swearing in ceremony on Wednesday. I will definately post photos when/if I get them. :) I also want to have a little party on Treasure Island to celebrate one of these days, but just coming out of the election, it could be a few weeks.
:)
