Shall I start calling these the 'Monthly Update'?

Seems to be the trend, eh? lol

Well, it's been a really busy month so I think I'll forgive myself the lack of initiative. Where to start? I guess the best place to start would be the end of school. Half my after school kids finished the third week of June, so that last week was a nice quiet one. My son didn't finish until June 29th. We missed Canada Day because we were getting him ready for his first sleep away camp. He was gone from the 2nd until the 12th. It was gloriously quiet and I was horribly homesick for my baby.

Thankfully I thought ahead, knowing that I would be feeling the empty house and the lack of constant chatter and noise I booked myself a mini-trip to visit my Dad and his lovely girlfriend in Niagara Falls. Despite being a little homesick for the puppies, my brother and the boy I loved every minute of being at my Dad's. The train ride was fantastic. There was a bit of confusion on the way down in Burlington because apparently when you're riding the Go Train system sometimes you end up on a bus. I'm not complaining, it just added to the sense of adventure. It was my first time on a double-decker (train and bus). I learned that I don't like being on bridges so much when the barrier is lower than where I'm sitting. You learn something new every day, right?
Now that I'm home, I'm homesick for my Dad and his girlfriend. That's okay though, it just gives me a good reason to work travel money into the budget and go down more often. The last time I went down was more than three years ago.

My little guy came home three days after I got back. He was exausted, filthy, sunburnt and full of scabbed over bug bites. Translation: he had an AWESOME time. So awesome, in fact, that he decided to bring some little friends home. That's right folks, he brought home bugs lol. There was one particularly disgusting slug like thing with a fuzzy face that fell out of his bag while I was separating the contents to be washed. It was already dead, thank god. The boy disposed of it though, because I'm a big wuss and didn't want to touch it.
The other bugs were on his arms and legs. We didn't find out until days later when the bites that were healing multiplied. A trip to the doctors later and apparently it's no big deal. Probably mites or something that he picked up when they slept outdoors. He's the only one who's got them so as long as they go away in the next two weeks, apparently we're good. There's less of them today, so I'm going to take that as a good sign. Sometimes boys are just gross.

Tonight I have the overwhelming feeling that all is right with the world. My best friend who I haven't seen in almost a year is here, showed up on my doorstep at supper time and will be spending the weekend. We've known each other since were were eleven-ish, so most of our lives. She's sitting across the table from me typing away at her own laptop contemplating life and where she'd like to see it go. It's so nice to be able to look up and see her face. (love you sis ^_^) My little guy and one of his many friends are fast asleep in his room. It'll be a full house all weekend but that's how I like it. Maybe I'll get some writing in for the fanfiction prompt table somewhere between the baking, laundry and cleaning. Maybe I'll hear from my daycare parents over the weekend and find out I'll have a full house during the week next week too. Either way I am surrounded by the people who are dear to me, our bellies are full (as are my cupboards) and we are all happy and healthy save for my Fibro. What more could a girl ask for? These are the moments I really love my little life.
