I've just realized how behind I am.

Firstly, I meant to get ALL my fic posted here ten thousand years ago (well, okay, more like TWO years ago, but whatever). Granted, I've posted a good chunk of it here, but I have no master post set up, and still a ton of stories - mostly Harry Potter - that aren't up.

So, f-list, it's time for some advice. Even ( Read more... )

Oh, cool! Thanks - that sounds like a good plan! And, um, how exactly DO you backdate posts? Do you change the year, like if you want to do a sticky post?

You could always create a special filter/custom friends group for your fanfic! That way, if anyone ever has a problem with it - which I don't, by the way ;) - you could just take them off the filter. It's super simple, you can read the FAQ on it here:

http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=102&q=filter&lang=

I personally love filters, because while I don't use them when I post entries, you can also set up filters to view your friends page. So I can view my regular friends on one page, my communities on another.. it's great! :)

I know what you mean--I have a ton of Harry Potter and more than a few Firefly fics that aren't over here because I wrote them before I got an lj.

It's a lot of work to do a master post, but totally worth it. Go for it. And I've never reeeally understood the need for a separate journal, so I voted no on that one, but I'm not too passionate about it either way, so whatever you want to do.

Hey, do what you want - I have a fanworks comm, but I post all the fic straight into my journal anyway, as you know. Dunno why I do that. 8D; But yeah, I second the backdating option - there's a little checkbox next to the date of the entry, and you can just hit that and the entry won't show up on the flist, plus you can date the entry whatever you want. Then you can post a masterlist that isn't backdated, etc.
