I do actually have some good advice about college, though. I moved from Texas to the University of Mississippi (7 hours from home, which doesn't sound like much but it is) where I knew quite literally no one. It was the best thing I've ever done. I got a chance to grow up and start over in a place where no one had any preconceived notions about who I should be. I got to really get to know myself without my parents' opinions constantly hovering. I mean, my parents are awesome and everything, and I miss them a lot, but it was nice to learn things without them for a change.
I also found a great new group of friends by talking to people in the dorms and wearing nerdy shirts and carrying the books that I love around. I quite literally found three of my best friends through Harry Potter paraphernalia. ^_^
But, yes, it sucks to be away from home for that long, and homesickness can be pretty rough, but you'll get through it just fine.
Congrats on making a decision!
