Really. What else would I be posting about?
First off, this was my first time experiencing a midnight premiere, and a Harry Potter midnight premiere at that. Nicole, her boyfriend Blake, her friend Sierra, and I got there at about seven. We didn't actually get in line til around 8 because we had dinner, got a board game to entertain ourselves, and snagged some ice cream. The line was INSANE, of course, but it was fun to play our board game, quiz each other on HP trivia, and be geeks with everyone else. A group of kids staged a duel between Harry and Voldemort at 9:30 lol, and some people had awesome, intense costumes.
And now, the movie.
OH MY GOD.
I was dying. How was this a PG MOVIE?! All the innuendo was unbelievably hilarious.
"I think Harry enjoyed...dessert. *wink*"
"Did you and Ginny do it?" *sporfle*
Hermione: "Suppose Ginny looked over here and saw you snogging me, would you expect her to leave?"
Ron: *blink* :0
Everyone in the movie theatre: OW OWWWW! (One of the best parts about watching with a hundred other HP geeks: Everyone's reactions. People cheered when Harry and Ginny kissed like there was no tomorrow, wolf whistled anytime she was in her robe, and booed when Ron kissed Lavender. AWESOMESAUCE.)
I love it. I love them. I thought everyone did a fantastic job, even....MICHAEL GAMBON.
WTF. The last movie Dumbledore is "alive" in and they actually kind of almost get his character right. For the first time since New!Dumbledore appeared, I thought he did a good job.
POOR DRACO. Seeing him cry was the most depressing thing ever. I was like, "Emo Draco would probably Sectumsempra himself. D:"
Lovedloved all the Ron/Hermione moments. (Ron: "Hermione's got nice skin, doesn't she?" Harry: "I...never really thought about it, but yeah she does." Yeah, okay, boys. SKIN. SURE.) I got all teary when Harry was holding Hermione after the birds scene, and he was like, "Seeing Ginny with Dean feels like that." AWWWW. HARRY. HERMIONE. RON, YOU IDIOT. D:
I was not so pleased with the latter half of the movie. They really rushed that. Where was the battle at the castle? Where was Dumbledore's funeral and the break-up scene? The part where Hermione and Ron tell Harry they're going with him touched me in the book, but in the movie, it sort of fell flat. I did like the way Dumbledore's death was handled, though. It was heartbreaking. I cried a little bit when Ginny was holding Harry and everyone had their wands up to the sky. ;_: God, that was awful.
I also wasn't entirely happy with how they handled the memories and the actual Snape/HBP storyline. I know I can't expect too much, but more should have been focused on them. Once again, very very rushed.
Oh, before I forget, can I just say that my favorite part of the ENTIRE MOVIE was the Felix Felicis scene? Harry was fucking hilarious. Everything that came out of his mouth cracked me up. When Slughorn was like, "HA-rryyyyy," and Harry was like, "SIIIIIR," my sides were killing me. Oh my God. And when he sat there, happily watching Slughorn and Hagrid get drunk....ahahaha. <3<3<3
Phew. So all in all, yes, best movie yet. I can't wait to see it again, because I plan on seeing it at least twice in theatres, if not more. So much love. Last night was absolutely fantastic.
