Forwards~ With That She Was Gone “One way ticket to Seoul please.” She replied in a monotone voice when her cue in the line was up. She then began telling the travel agent her ticket information. They probably thought that she was just one of those last minute travelers but; she has been planning this day for years. There was no turning back now.
She waited a few more moments after all her information was authorized until her ticket was printed out. She thanked the travel agent with no change in her tone of voice, turned on her heel and walked away while dragging her single suitcase behind her.
She checked in her suitcase so she was only left with the bag on her back, her messenger bag with her laptop and a mini suitcase with a change of clothes and a few other items that she was way too worried about to put with the rest of her stuff. After doing that, she headed to the boarding gate to wait for her flight. There were only 15 minutes left until boarding.
She was the first to get out of her seat when the airport worker announced the cue for the boarding of her flight.
“Thank you” she replied with a slight nod of her head after the airport worker had wished her a nice flight.
When she was finally on the plane, she still didn’t have a sense of peace just quite yet. She doubted that the weight on her chest would be lifted until she was standing in the Seoul International Airport. Even then, everything wouldn’t be all fun and games because that is just where everything would begin.
After checking her boarding pass over and over for her seat number, she made her way down the plane isle. She was never good at finding her seat on planes and today was no exception.
Eventually, she had found her seat on the plane. She had a window seat located at the far end of the plane. After she had herself settled down, with her mini suitcase stashed up in the baggage compartment and her messenger bag and backpack stowed beside her feet she leaned back, closed her eyes and sighed.
After some minutes, she opened her eyes as she had felt a person’s presence in the seat next to her. She gave him a once over since she knew she would be stuck beside him for the next 14 hours of the of the flight to Seoul. She inwardly sighed in relief for not being stuck beside a woman with a bickering child or someone who didn’t know of an invention called ‘deodorant’.
The man beside her had a certain charisma emitting from him even as he was just sitting there. He was quite tall and looked to be in his early twenties. He was also quite pleasing to the eye if you know what she means.
After 20 minutes of people boarding the plane, passenger counts and nearly endless announcements to notify them of the delay because of late passengers, the plane had finally made it’s way to the runway for take off. She leaned back into her seat again and clutched both arm rests tightly. She knew that the armrest on her right was most likely meant for the man beside her but she beat him to it as flights were not her favourite thing in the world, especially 14 hour ones. She felt her heartbeat quickening as the plane took off and ascended higher into the sky to reach it’s desired altitude.
About twenty minutes later, when the plane had finished position itself and was no longer tilted at an angle, she unbuckled her seatbelt and began to fidget in her seat like a toddler. Even if this had brought unwanted attention to herself.
After sitting there for a few more moments trying to think of a way to pass the time, she decided to take out the current book she was reading and finish it off since there were only a few more pages to go anyway.
Less than 15 minutes later, she finished her book and closed it with a loud sigh. This had gotten the attention of young man sitting beside her.
“You didn’t like it?” he asked her.
“Huh?”
“That book, you sighed so loudly when you finished it.”
“Oh not at all! I love this book! It’s my third time reading it, I just don’t do too well on planes that’s all.” She replied.
“Ah, I see. You just seem very calm for someone who doesn’t do too well on planes.”
“I’m very good at faking it.” She said with a soft laugh.
After a short moment of silence the young man asked,
“What’s your name?”
“Kaira, what about yourself?”
“Taecyeon.”
“Cool, nice to meet you.”
“You too.”
A moment of silence followed soon after that.
“So uh....Where you headed to?” Taecyeon asked her.
“Seoul.”
“Cool, cool.”
“And yourself?” Kaira asked him.
“Same here.”
After that a comfortable silence had settled in. As the rest of the passengers were sleeping under the plane’s dimmed lights, Kaira sat there wide-awake. She could never let slumber take over her when her heart is a mess.
She sat there wide awake listening to music that she could barely hear because of how deep in a trance she was. She was so oblivious to everything around her that she didn’t notice that Taecyeon was still awake and staring at her.
Taecyeon turned and looked at Kaira. “Man she looks posessed or something.” He thought. He tapped her on the shoulder and brought her out of her trance.
“Huh?” she said while pulling out one of her headphones.
“You okay?” he asked her.
“Yeah why?” she replied unconvincingly.
“You sat there wide eyed and didn’t blink for a minute or something.”
Kaira turned to him with an eyebrow raised.
“So...you were staring at me for over a minute to realize that didn’t you?” she shot back with an amused smirk on her face.
“Hey you were sitting there beside me looking like you were possessed or something, how could I NOT look or notice that.”
Kaira just gave him a mock glare on her face.
“Ha. Funny. But hey I wasn’t lying before when I told you that I don’t do well on planes.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
“I didn’t look like I was possessed...” she mumbled under her breath. Taecyeon saw her slightly pouting while mumbling and laughed.
She turned to him and smiled.
Even with her fatigued appearance, he took one look at her and a sudden realization came to him.
Whoever she was, he doubted that she was someone he could forget so easily.
