Just got back from Home Depot, picked up some cilantro and rosemary seeds and a planter. I figure I can try growing stuff again here in Georgia, since Texas was just this side of Hell, and nothing I grew stayed alive. Figure I can do this as a hobby now ( Read more... )

I don't mind looking, but, then again, I'm cheap and visually-stimulated *laugh* it's not like i'm apt to be picking anyone up except in the circus sideshow sense of the word. :-D

and a lot of PLers juice/"use gear" in the parlance (to the point where there are federations for both tested and untested lifters, to allow both camps to compete on even and fair footing), it's just with a different purpose in mind.

[standard rant/cluedrop] the anabolics don't let you train any more enthusiastically on any given workout - you can get that benefit from a strong cup of coffee or a bottle of mountain dew, even if you don't jazz it up with creatine or beta-alanine like I do (it makes the coffee taste vaguely like aluminum and makes your scalp tingle if you put a scosh too much in) - they facilitate muscle growth and recovery, so you can train harder and more often and push more weight/volume (depending on your training's goal adaptation).

it's part of why the steroids in baseball thing is kind of a red herring - they don't improve your ability to hit the ball (that's what the Adderall prescription epidemic is for; it slows the world down because it's a stimulant) - they just mean you can hit the ball harder because you're doing more work in the weight room.

I don't have issue with juicers. It's their body to do as they please.

It's the culture that weirds me out a bit, like the stoners. Pot? Okay, go ahead, just keep it out of the public atmosphere. But the whole 420 culture is a bit much.

And I have to be careful with creatine. They think that's what set off my autoimmune issues back in 2004. And it would definitely cause trouble now with the transplant. Never tried beta-alanine. Wonder what that'd do to me?

B-A - https://examine.com/supplements/beta-alanine/

I think some of the clique/insularity/in-group behavior is because, to the general population, using gear is sketchy and weird and on the margins (i, myself, am not down with using needles for shit a doctor hasn't rx'd, but others aren't as uptight).

Interesting. And thanks for the link.

I wouldn't take it, myself, but it's nice to have something new to look at and go, "Gee, what would THAT do to me?"
